Hyaluronic acid occurs naturally in the body and is a humectant, meaning it draws water from its surroundings. A single molecule of it is capable of carrying 1,000 times its weight in water. As we age, however, our body’s ability to produce it slows, leaving skin dehydrated and lacking elasticity.
When applied topically, hyaluronic acid helps the absorption of water into the skin from any products you apply after it.
